Religious School
The mission of our Religious
School is to create a warm and friendly atmosphere as we provide
students with the tools and experiences to develop a relationship with
Judaism. Our Education Director, Nancy Shechter feels that all
children are naturally curious and want to learn. She has structured
the school to help students and their families experience and understand
their Jewishness through a hands-on, creative intellectual approach. Her
enthusiasm and ability in making Jewish education come alive to our kids
has been a tremendous asset to our synagogue. Prayer is an important
part of this process and our Family Worship Service and Family Education
programs are an integral part of the curriculum.
Exciting Family programming
is offered at each grade level. We wish to be partners with our parents
in creating a positive Jewish identity for our youth.
Our Holiday Kindergarten
Program and Primary School include educational programs for kids; ages
5,6 and 7 that introduce our children to basic Jewish holidays, customs
and ceremonies.
Religious School includes
Grades 3-7.
Hebrew High School covers
grades 8-10. This three- year program gives teenagers the opportunity
to study Jewish topics on a more advanced level. Year 3 is taught by
Rabbi Rothstein and leads to confirmation and Hebrew High School
Graduation.
Post Hebrew High School is
taught by Rabbi Rothstein and covers Grades 11 and 12. It is a
discussion group and encourages study of Jewish texts.
The religious school and
its students are the keystones of Temple Beth Shalom.
